Ken & Karen Buckner

We are off to Africa! Our journey will begin May 16, 2009. Ken will travel to Zambia with Bo Cheeves, the founder of Global Samaritans Orphanage. They will spend 2 weeks getting Ken aclimated to the area and organizing the projects for the Mission Teams traveling to Zambia this season. Karen will follow about 2 weeks later at the end of the school year where she is an assistant 1st grade teacher at Christian Academy .

It will be our pleasure for you to come and join us.  Here are a few ways you can do just that.

First and foremost, we would greatly appreciate your prayers. We will be far from our home, our families and our friends. This will be new to us and we expect the enemy to "just be a pest" at every turn. It will only be through the power of God and his Grace that we will be able to survive these attacks. Prior to and during our tour we will be lead to our knees day and night. You can be right there in the field with us simply by falling on your knees and joining with us as we pray. We will update this site as regularly as we are able by sharing our experiences, our struggles and our triumphs. Your prayers are precious to us and we appreciate them very much.

Second, we would love for you to come visit us. There are several opportunities for teams and individuals to participate in various mission trips to the orphanage and the villages of Zambia. If you are interested, please contact us. We will be happy to direct you to the right source.

The third way to be with us is to follow this BLOG. We plan to keep this site updated regularly - depending on the frequency and quality of our internet connection. I expect to take many photos and videos documenting the projects and ministries that we will be involved in during our tour. As project opportunities arise, we will publish them with as many details as possible in order to communicate the needs...in dollars, materials and man-power.

A fourth method is to join us in Africa financially. We are self funded and any outside financial support is greatly appreciated. We are sponsored by Palmetto Shores Church and all tax deductible donations can be directed to our ministry through the church. Call 843-236-7880 for more information.
